Indian Film: KAL HO NAA HO (KHNH)

Hello it's Bilal again, now I will do a blog about another romantic musical, but also a comedy-drama film which is called KAL HO NAA HO, it is sometimes referred as KHNH and in English translation it means (THERE MAY OR MAY NOT BE A TOMORROW), this film is considered to be one of the 2003's classic and an all time blockbuster. I will now tell you what this film is about in a big summary because if I explain it in a short summary then it will be difficult to understand the story so I will have to explain it in a big summary.

This romantic, musical comedy-drama saga is set in NEW YORK (AMERICA/UNITED STATES) and it starts off with a girl NAINA CATHERINE KAPUR, a pessimistic MBA student who lives in NEW YORK with her widowed mother, JENNIFER KAPUR a.k.a JENNY and two younger siblings SHIV and GIA, who was adopted. JENNY runs an unsuccessful restaurant alongside her neighbor to provide for her family. JENNY's mother-in-law, LAJJO, is cold towards JENNY and GIA, as she believes GIA's adoption is what led her son to commit suicide. NAINA has two best friends; her classmate ROHIT PATEL and neighbor JASPREET KAPOOR a.k.a SWEETU. Her life is dull and shadowed by the loss of her father, until AMAN MATHUR moves in with his mother next door. His bubbly attitude and fun-loving ways convince NAINA to improve her looks and live life to the fullest while he slowly starts solving the problems of NAINA's family and friends, including revealing to the entire family that GIA is NAINA and SHIV's half-sister. AMAN helps JENNY's restaurant become successful, and his efforts cause NAINA to realize that she loves him. Meanwhile, ROHIT falls in love with NAINA and asks AMAN to help in proposing to her. When NAINA tries to confess her feelings for AMAN, he tells her that he is married to a woman named PRIYA. He says that PRIYA left for NEW YORK after a heated argument and he came to win her back. Heartbroken, NAINA leaves without confessing and breaks down at the Brooklyn Bridge. It is then revealed that AMAN is not married, and PRIYA is his friend and doctor. AMAN is a terminally-ill patient, suffering from a fatal cardiac heart disease, and his chances of surviving are extremely low because he needs a transplant. He lied to NAINA and hid his love for her so that she can find love with ROHIT, who will be there for her when AMAN has died. With AMAN's help, ROHIT proposes to NAINA, who reluctantly agrees. Their friendship blossoms into a loving relationship. While shopping with ROHIT, NAINA encounters PRIYA, whose husband ABHAY reveals that AMAN is terminally-ill. Shocked, NAINA realizes that AMAN sacrificed his love for her. She tearfully berates him for loving her so much and embraces him, as he tries to persuade her that he is happy. ROHIT and NAINA's wedding rituals begin, in which AMAN and NAINA tearfully participate. Promptly after the marriage, AMAN is on his death bed and bids goodbye to everyone before he dies. Twenty years later, an elderly NAINA recalls how AMAN impacted their lives as she sits beside a grown-up GIA. They are joined by an aged ROHIT, who reminds NAINA that he loves her, this film gives an important message ("A Story of a Lifetime... In a Heartbeat").

In my opinion I love this movie, I love the story, the songs/music, the comedy & drama and the actors who acted in this film, I suggest you should watch this to it's very good.

English Film: EVAN ALMIGHTY

Hello it's Bilal again, now I will do a blog about a religious but also a comedy film which is called EVAN ALMIGHTY, in this film STEVE CARELL stars as the main character. This film is kind of like a sequel to the other film BRUCE ALMIGHTY which JIM CARREY starred in, it also has the same GOD played by MORGAN FREEMAN but with a different story, this film is considered to be one of the 2000's classic. Here is an image and a trailer of the film.

I will now tell you what this film is about in a short summary. This religious and comedy-filled film is about a news reporter who has just got a job in politician, him, his wife and 3 sons straight away move to another city where he will do his new job, then one day GOD appears to him and tells him that a flood is coming and he will have to build a huge ARK (basically a boat) to be able to protect the animals and the people. He must convince his wife and 3 kids somehow and has to use the equipment's that GOD gave him to help him build the ARK involving a series of comic events. In my opinion I love this movie, I love the actors, the comedy and drama and the story, I suggest you should watch it to it's really good.

Indian Film: MUJHSE SHAADI KAROGI (MSK)

Hello it's Bilal again, now I will do a blog about another Indian comedy film, the film is called MUJHSE SHAADI KAROGI, it is sometimes referred as MSK and in English translation it means (WILL YOU MARRY ME?), this film is considered to be one of the 2000's classic and a very big hit. Here is an image and a one classic song from the film.

I will now tell you what this film is about in a short summary. This comedy-filled drama film is about 2 young men SAMIR and SUNNY who live in Goa and share a room on rent, they have a battle with each other for their neighbors daughter who they love and have a wish to marry her involving a series of hilarious events. In my opinion I love this movie so much, I love the actors who act in this film, I love the comedy and the story, I suggest you should watch it as well you will love it also.

English Film: LIAR LIAR

Hello it's Bilal again, now I will do a blog about another comedy film which also stars Jim Carrey in it, the film is called LIAR LIAR, this film is considered to be one of the 90's classic. Here is an image and a trailer of the movie.

Now I will tell you what this film is about in a short summary. This comedy film is about a successful lawyer who only cares about his career more than his 4 year old son and ex-wife, he also lies a lot. One day when it's his son's 5th birthday he lies again that he won't be able to make it saying he has got a meeting but in fact he is with a woman, his lies gets his son upset so much that when the son is about to cut his birthday cake he makes a desperate wish saying that "AT LEAST FOR ONE DAY HIS DAD COULDN'T TELL A LIE". Then his wish actually comes true then his dad starts to tell the truth for the full 24 hours involving a series of hilarious events, what I learnt from this film that you should never lie in life. In my opinion I love this movie, I love the comedy and the story, I suggest you should watch it to it's very good.

Indian Film: DULHAN HUM LE JAYENGE (DHLJ)

Hello it's Bilal again, now I will do a blog about a Indian romantic comedy film which is called DULHAN HUM LE JAYENGE, it is sometimes referred as (DHLJ) and in English translation it means (I WILL TAKE THE BRIDE) this film is considered to be one of the 2000's classic and a big hit. I will now tell you what this film is about in a short summary. This romantic comedy film is about SAPNA has been brought up by her three doting, but eccentric uncles. PRABHU is a very religious Hindu, while BHOLA is a former wrestler who is very into fitness and makes SAPNA do intense workout routines daily. VICKY is into fashion and western music. The uncles all wish for her to marry, but their differences clash, as each of them wants the boy to have the same interests as them. SAPNA is tired of dancing to her uncle's tunes all her life and wishes to take a group trip to EUROPE. However, when she expresses her wishes to her nanny, MARY, her uncles fire the nanny for giving SAPNA such foolish ideas. However, MARY works for another family and tells them of SAPNA's plight. She shares SAPNA's photo with RAJA , who is now determined to make her his bride. Meanwhile, SAPNA looks to the last resort and tries to run away, but VICKY catches her and volunteers to take her to the airport himself. On her travels through Europe, RAJA creates nothing but trouble for her, but circumstances separate them from the rest of the tour group, and RAJA saves SAPNA's life. They fall in love and wish to marry once they return to India, but RAJA must first impress all three of her uncles. Through a series of comic events, RAJA wins their hearts. He and SAPNA happily marry in the end. This movie may sound similar to the other movie (DDLJ) but it's not it has a different story and actors. 

In my opinion I love this movie I laughed so much when I first time watched it, I suggest you should watch it to you will love this movie as well.

English Film: THE MASK

Hello it's Bilal again, today I will do a blog about a action-comedy film which is called THE MASK, in this film Jim Carrey one of my favorite American comedians stars as the main character in this film. This film is considered to be one of the 90's classic and an all time blockbuster, here is an image and a trailer of the film.

I will now tell you what this film is about in a short summary. This comedy film is about a bank accountant who finds an ancient green mask (which is made out of wood) in a river, when he puts it on he turns into a green face comedian,the mask has magical powers it can make you do those things that no ordinary person can do. Soon he gets spotted by terrorists and the police and they decide to call him "THE MASK", when matters get worse for him the bank accountant has to think of a way to get himself out of this mess involving a series of hilarious events. In my opinion I love this movie, I also love the action, comedy and the story, I suggest you should watch it to it's really good.

Indian Film: PARDES (FOREIGN LAND)

Hello it's Bilal again, now I will do a blog about another Indian romantic musical but also a cultural film which is called PARDES, in English translation it means (FOREIGN LAND). This film is considered to be a cult classic and an all time blockbuster. Here is an image and jukebox of all of the songs from the film.

I will now tell you what this film is about in a short summary. This romantic musical saga is about ARJUN SAGAR is the foster son of KISHORILAL, a wealthy NRI who harbours affection for his home-country, India. On a trip to meet his friend in rural India, KISHORILAL comes in contact with his friend's daughter, GANGA. He is impressed by her culture and values, and decides to arrange her marriage with his real son, RAJIV .

ARJUN is tasked to prepare GANGA's family to receive RAJIV when he arrives. ARJUN sets about "westernizing" the household, but is resisted by GANGA and her siblings. Their clash brings them together, and ARJUN and GANGA become friends. RAJIV visits the village in a month's time, and is subjected to alien Indian customs and traditions. With help from ARJUN, he soon begins to understand Indian culture and becomes attracted to GANGA.

RAJIV and GANGA agree to their arranged marriage, and fly off together to the US after being engaged in India. GANGA lives with the KISHORILAL household while preparations are made for a grand wedding. During this time, she faces hostilities from KISHORILAL's family, who have long left India and its values behind, having fully embraced American culture. GANGA believes RAJIV is different from his family, but is soon exposed to his indulgent lifestyle, his brattish behaviour and secrets of his past relationships. Having grown up in a conservative family in India, she reacts negatively to this new information and lashes out at ARJUN, accusing him of painting a false picture of RAJIV before their engagement.

ARJUN's continued friendship with GANGA is noticed by KISHORILAL's family, and they relocate him within the country so he cannot interfere in RAJIV's relationship. On a trip to Las Vegas, RAJIV and GANGA end up fighting in their hotel room over the former's insistence to play around before marriage. RAJIV ends up attempting assault on GANGA, who fights him off and escapes. ARJUN finds her in a distressed state at a train station, and flies her back to the safety of her family in India.

Back in the village, GANGA's family are falsely led to believe that ARJUN and GANGA have eloped. RAJIV shows up in the country, and hires goons to take revenge on ARJUN. ARJUN gets attacked, but fights back for GANGA's sake. His fistfight with RAJIV turns violent and he brutally beats all of the goons and RAJIV , but they are interrupted by KISHORILAL. KISHORILAL demands an explanation from ARJUN for his actions, who confesses that he has fallen in love with GANGA but acted only with an intent to protect her (and not elope with her). GANGA, meanwhile, has also realized her love for ARJUN. She exposes RAJIV to her family for his actions in Vegas. KISHORILAL is disgusted and orders RAJIV back to the US. GANGA and ARJUN return to the US and get married. They live out a happy married life together.

this film shows you how two different cultures such as India and America are like, what I learnt from this film is that (YOU SHOULD ALWAYS LOVE YOUR COUNTRY AND CULTURE). In my opinion I love this movie, I like the songs and music, I like the actors who act in this film and the story, I suggest you should watch it to you will also love this movie it's very good.
